Whitsunday Islands skipper yourself bareboat holidays.

PROVISIONING & REFRIGERATION

You have numerous options when it comes to stocking your boat for your Whitsunday adventure.

REFRIGERATION

Refrigeration space is limited on all boats. When planning your groceries consider how much you need to refrigerate. Most boats stop back at Airlie Beach or visit Hamilton Island after four to five days to drop off garbage, top up water tanks, buy more ice and dinghy fuel. This is a good time to replenish your fresh produce, meat and bakery goods. We recommend that you buy all your drinks, dry goods, non refrigerated fruit & veggies for the whole holiday and enough and meat, fish and refrigerated produce for four to five nights. Hamilton Island has a bakery, a fish store and grocery store (prices are higher than the mainland).

Most boats use 12 v refrigeration units; a thermostat will switch the fridge or freezer compressor on as needed. Most of problems with refrigeration units are caused by low batteries. The units are designed to shut of at low voltage. Monitor battery voltage and keep the batteries well charged. To maximize efficiency when stocking, keep all air spaces full and place items needed to be kept frozen against the freezer plate. Use bread, water or drinks to fill air spaces.
